Tips for a marketing manager resume

  1. Put revenue numbers first, not activity

A hiring manager wants to know what your marketing produced. Put pipeline, revenue, CAC, ROAS, or a conversion rate in your strongest bullets. Give the number of emails, posts, or events only when it explains a result.

  2. Write your budget and your team size

The budget and the team size tell the reader the scope of your job. Write the annual budget, the channels, and the number of direct reports and agencies. A manager with a $4 million budget and a team of 4 applies for different jobs than a manager with $300,000 and no team.

  3. Use the metrics of the business model

B2B and consumer marketing use different metrics. A B2B posting asks about pipeline, marketing qualified leads (MQL), and the sales cycle. A consumer or e-commerce posting asks about ROAS, average order value, and repeat purchases. Use the metrics of the job that you apply for.

  4. Show how you work with sales

In a B2B company, marketing and sales share the pipeline target. Write one bullet about a shared process, such as lead scoring, a service level agreement (SLA), or a handoff rule. Give the result as a number, such as a higher lead-to-opportunity rate.

  5. Add one link to your work

Put one link in the header to a short portfolio or a LinkedIn profile with campaign examples. Show 2 or 3 campaigns with the goal, the channels, and the result. Remove client names and data that a former employer does not let you share.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write a marketing manager resume with no management experience?

Show the parts of the job that you already do. Write the budget that you controlled, the campaigns that you led, and the people that you directed, such as interns, freelancers, or an agency. Apply first to jobs with a small team or a team of one, because they ask more for campaign results than for people management.

What numbers should a marketing manager put on a resume?

Use numbers that connect to revenue: pipeline, revenue, CAC, ROAS, conversion rate, and customer retention. Add your budget and your team size to show scope. Give a start value, an end value, and a time for each result.

Which certifications help a marketing manager resume?

No certification is required. Google Ads, Google Analytics, and HubSpot certifications show that you can use the tools in the job posting. The AMA Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) shows broad marketing knowledge. Clear results from real campaigns count more than any certification.

Should a marketing manager resume have a summary or an objective?

Use a summary. Marketing leaders hire for results, so the first lines must give your budget, your channels, and one revenue number, such as pipeline or ROAS. An objective gives your goal, not your results.

How long should a marketing manager resume be?

Use one page when you have less than about 8 to 10 years of relevant experience. After that, you can use two pages. A specialist with 5 years and a manager with 7 years both fit on one page. Put the most recent and most relevant jobs first, and shorten jobs that are more than 10 years old.
